Under the acronym EUROSHELL , this proposal will provide solutions to identified challenges that may constrain the transfer of knowledge to the shellfish sector and thus affect its sustainable development.
It will focus on identification of the underlying factors that inhibit effective knowledge management in the sector and provide regional forums to facilitate dialogue between shellfish companies (especially through their regional or national producers' organisations) and researchers, with a strong focus on developing efficient methodology for knowledge transfer.

EUROSHELL data will be soon integrated into the EMODNET portal

During the one-year consultation phase that followed the release of the EU Green Paper on a Future Maritime Policy for the European Union, stakeholders confirmed that the poor access to data on the marine environment was a brake on the economy, a handicap to government decision-making and a barrier to scientific understanding.

Accordingly, in its Blue Book on an integrated maritime policy for the European Union, the Commission proposed to take steps in 2008 towards a European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODNET).

EUROSHELL data and maps will be integrated into the EMODNET Human Activities Portal in the summer 2014.
